Mummy's entry - Was it love at first sight?

No, I’m not referring to the hubby. LOL. I’m referring to the very first time you set your eyes on your newborn baby. Was it love at first sight for you?

I’m going to admit that it wasn’t for me for Rye Li’s case when I delivered her. It wasn’t hate either. It was just very neutral. That’s it.

I guess when you watch TV, you tend to see cute little babies all the time and also you do tend to see those cute newborns online when you go to baby’s sites, etc. So I guess I had that impression that my newborn will be all that cute too which she wasn’t at all. LOL

Anyway, although I didn’t have that love at first sight feeling for her, I did have the mother instincts in me and therefore, my first priority when she was out was to breastfed her and lucky for me, the hospital I delivered at also believed in this. When she was taken away from me after the first attempt of breastfeeding which I was surprised as to how she latched on naturally immediately, I didn’t see her till like 6-7 hours later. When they brought her to me later, I only knew that I wanted to attempt again at breastfeeding but wasn’t really successful because this girl chose to sleep than suckle. So the next 2 days at the hospital saw me trying again and again for this.

So when did my love for her started? I can say in the days to come after she came out. Before this motherly love came along, it was just motherly duties for me.

But when the motherly love came along, it was unconditional love for sure till today of course! ;) …Now that Baby H is just around the corner, I wonder whether will I get that immediate motherly love or will it be the same with Rye Li’s case too.

I’m going to turn this into a tag (the first for me and will probably be my last) as I would like to hear from my blogger mummies friends out there whether they experienced the same as I did or something totally different. I will tag to those (very limited) that I know only and they are:-

1) Kittycat
2) Vien
3) ZMM
4) Chinnee
5) Sasha
6) Wen
7) Anna
8) Footprints
9) Momsie Tales
10) Mumsgather
11) Scribbles for my angels
12) Twinnila
13) Kai Jin
14) Baby Liv

Mummy's entry - Been tagged - 7 things you don't know about me

Lilypie 2nd Birthday Ticker

It's been a while since I did any tags and I have missed out on a few (sorry ya to those that have tagged me before, I just didn't find the time to do them). Not that I have a whole lot of time doing this one but so happened I was reading ZMM's site and saw that she tagged me. And since it was an easy one to do, I thought why not.

Actually, I'm still thinking whether I want to do this or not since I found out that quite a number of my friends and ex-colleagues do read this blog and I so Thank my lucky stars that I've not said more than what I could here... :D...anyway, there's nothing to be embarassed about since I did start this blog for the girl, not just me. I hope that she will take over this blog one day so that I can concentrate on my own blog! ;)

Ok, 7 things you don't know about me (maybe some of you already do but I know not my blogger friends know for sure!)

1) I used to have a navel ring and then changed it to a stud. I got this as my graduation present to myself (I know, what a silly gift but at that time I just wanted it!) when I graduated in Melbourne many moons back. And no, I didn't remove it because I got pregnant. In fact, I removed it before I got pregnant as it has always irritated my skin as I have sensitive skin and I was stupid enough to bear with the discomfort for over 6 years or so (vain pot mah!). I still have the scar on my belly button.

2) I have a tattoo - this was influenced by hubby (again stupid enough to listen to him). He designed it. It's a Manta Ray and the body of it reads my name "Syn" in chinese (it means heart in chinese). I wanted this on my lower back but since I can't really stand pain, I opted for it to be at the back of my left shoulder. And boy was it damn painful! I had to stop in between as I was about to pass out from the pain. Between body piercing (navel) and tattoo-ing, I prefer the navel piercing. If you ask me to do either one again, I will tell you to go fly kite. Hubby is doing another one (which I will complaint one day in my own blog). Anyway, don't ask me how I went through labour pains without pain management...I also don't know or chose not to remember! ;)

3) Hubby proposed to me at Angkor Wat. Details....one day at my own blog. Too long to type it out here. But I still want to go back there since we missed the sun set that day - I was too busy asking him questions! Will do this trip when our kids are bigger and know how to enjoy such trips.

4) I wet my bed till I was 7-8 years old and I sure pray that Rye Li do not follow my footsteps. My father to this day will tell you how many times he has changed me in the middle of night when he comes back from his drinking/socialising night outs. He says this so proudly and the way he tells people how many times he has seen my "hoo-hah"....geez!

5) I can make a loud sound by pressing my tongue hard against my upper pallet and releasing it. It sounds like a loud "cluck". I'm the only one in my family that can do this and it has become my call to my family when I'm in public. When they hear this sound, they will know I'm around. I have also trained hubby, my niece and nephew as well as Rye Li to know it's me when I make this sound. How I got this....it seems that my paternal grandmother loves to do this to me when I was a baby and I responded to her and I think in time, with practice, the sounds just grew louder. I believe that this should be the reason! :D

6) Hubby and I was in Koh Samui for a holiday during the Millenium and we didn't book any hotels. This was my first time there but hubby has been there many times. The trip was out of the blue thingy and we decided to risk it, thinking that if we can't find a place to stay, we would sleep on the beach! We went there by land through penang to hadyai and then to surathani to take the ferry across. We arrived on the island around 6pm and luckily, the guy that took us helped us to find a place to stay. We went to so many places and they were all booked. Finally after more than an hour or so, we managed to find one...slightly expensive but we got a room for 2 nights before moving on to a cheaper one. Phew! Again, this was what hubby and I did before we got married....very adventurous, doing things at the spur of the moment. We have been to Koh Samui again several more times after that and we always rented a motorbike (the cheapest) and hubby would ride it although he doesn't have a valid license. I would love to go there again with my kids but when the time comes, we're flying and also we will be renting a proper car. No more crazy stuff already. :D

7) Similar to ZMM (although I think she's a better mom than I am), I am also very impatient and hubby would love to agree to this. I get irritated very fast especially when I'm already in a foul mood. I've learnt to remain silent when I'm moody as I wouldn't want to regret saying things I shouldn't. Hubby is aware about this but men being men, he will forget about this and insist in pushing the situation and he will get a whole lot more out of me. He's been "hit" so many times before especially when I was pregnant. hehe...and then when Rye Li came along and had her tantrums, he got "hit" even more as he likes asking me stupid questions like "why is she crying?" or "why is she like that?".....geez, if I know all the answers to why a baby cries, she wouldn't be crying isn't it. Now, I will just tell him to stop asking me stupid questions. But of course, when I know I'm in the wrong, I will just keep my mouth shut and suffer in silence. I also feel I'm a lousy mom to Rye Li as she has become me already....she reminds me so much of me when she gets impatient these days! And it is hubby's time to give me THE look when she behaves like me. Yikes!

Since I'm so lousy at doing Tags, I don't think I wanna pass this on. Actually, I don't have that many blogger friends la and the ones I know probably have done this already. :D ...so to whoever that wants to do this, you can have the honours. Just let me know when you do. ;)

Mummy's been tagged as Rockin' Girl Blogger

Lilypie 2nd Birthday Ticker

Would you believe it that Mummy's been awarded as a Rockin' Girl Blogger by Belle's Mummy?!!! Hahaha...I can understand Rockin' but I don't understand why girl ah? You see, I hear people call her "Arntee" (Aunty) so shouldn't she be awarded a Rockin' Aunty Blogger instead? ;)

My mummy rocks alright...she has always been rocking as far back as I can remember. Of course, she started with rocking me to sleep and then she also rocks me to dance. Along the way, she will be rocking her self dancing to entertain me. Initially, I will just stare at her thinking she's mad. Then I will laugh along coz I think she's funny. Now, when I'm in the mood, I will join her as well if not, I will just stare at her and laugh!
Thank you Belle's mummy for this honour....now I'd like to pass this Rocking' Aunty...er I mean Rockin' Girl Blogger Award to Lucas mummy (if she has not been tagged already) coz I think she rocks too!

Mummy's entry - Blogger

Lilypie 2nd Birthday Ticker

I've been tagged again. This time by Belle's mummy....I'm still owing Lucas' mummy one (wait ah).

1) Who is the 1st blogger you meet?

None yet unless you count your friends who also blog.

2) Who is the ‘Most Wanted to Meet’ blogger for you?

This has to be Lucas' mummy as she's the first blogger I got to know along the way when I started reading blogs. She's in Penang and although we have managed to go to Penang a few times since Rye Li's was born, we have never gotten around to meet up due to the lack of time. Hope to meet up with her when we're heading up there in July for BIL's wedding.

3) Who is the ‘I can could meet, want wanted to meet but somehow never got to meet’ blogger? (modified a bit)

Same answer as above.

4) Who are the group of bloggers you most wanted to meet?

Ok, I do not know that many bloggers so this would be the bloggers that I have communicated so far and they are Lucas' mummy, Zara and Zaria's mummy (ZMM), Belle's mummy and Mummy of 2 Angels.
Actually, thanks to Lilian, I came across Lucas' mummy and ZMM. And thanks to ZMM, I came across Belle's mummy and thanks to Lucas' mummy, I came across Mummy of 2 angels. So, I would also love to meet Lilian one day as she has and still is inspiring alot of moms out there in so many ways! Thanks to her also, I was determined to breastfeed Rye Li as long as I could.

5) Do you bloggers/blog readers that you wish to meet right now?
Yes, all of the bloggers that I have mentioned above.
And now I will tag to those I know who have yet to be tagged by this : Lucas' mummy, Zara and Zaria's mummy and Mummy of 2 Angels! :D

Mummy's entry - A-Z about me

Lilypie 2nd Birthday Ticker

I've been tagged, thanks to my tags supplier, Lucas' Mummy and I'm already owing her an outstanding one in which I will do it later when I've more time to think about it. ;) ... I'm doing this now as this is easy-peasy (hint!)

[A is for age]:31 in July only (yea, kinda in denial)

[B is for booze of choice]: Strawberry Daiquiri, Midori Illusion, Gin & Tonic

[C is for career]:Key Account Management

[D is for your most dreaded]:Cockroaches

[E is for essential item you use everyday]:Watch - have not taken it off since Rye Li was born (only to have it clean of course but it's mostly on me 24 hours)

[F is for favorite song at the moment]:None from the radio stations. Mostly listening to Rye Li's music currently. Does "Old MacDonald" count as a favourite song?

[G is for favorite games]:Games? Does playing peek-a-boo or playing ball with Rye Li count or letting Rye Li chase me around the house?

[H is for Hometown]:Kuala Lumpur

[I is for indulgence:]Ice cream anytime!
[J is for favorite flavor of juice:] No favourite, any juice is okay for me

[K is for kids]:Is this question relating to how many kids I have or would like to have or my opinion on them?! I'll answer all three - I have currently 1 I would like to have 2 (although hubby wants 3 and I'm still contemplating on this) and I believe now that having a kid will not only change your life in so many ways but makes you appreciate your life more

[L is for last hug from husband]This morning

[M is for years of marriage]:3 years

[N is for name of your crush]:Too many to type out...along the lines of Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise (I know, I know...these 2 have dropped off from many women's list since they got involved with their current partners but I'm just in them for their looks...hehe...i know, pretty shallow eh?! But it's just a gal's dream)

[O is for overnight hospital stays]:I've never stayed at the hospital before Rye Li was born (my own birth doesn't count as that was my Mom's time). I had 2 nights when Rye Li was born, another night for her jaundice like 5 days after she was born and another 2 nights when she had high fever when she was only 20 days old. Enough to scare me off hospitals till the next baby comes.

[P is for phobias]:Cockroaches and the "foreign" visitors at nights and perhaps death itself (something that haunts me in my dreams)

[Q is for quote]: Lucas' mummy quoted what I strongly believe in so I'll quote another one ... "You are what you eat" - so does this means I'm all ice cream?!!! Yum! Haha!

[R is for biggest regret:]None as I believe that everything happens for a reason and hey, if those things didn't happen, I would not have met Rye Li's papa and hence I would not have Rye Li

[S is for status, married or single]If you have a husband you've got to be married rite?! duh! (from the above question on L)

[T is for time you wake up:]If I can set a time, it will be noon but in reality, it's 6-45am weekdays and 8am weekends
[U is for underwear:] Of course! And I don't need to describe them here!

[V is for vegetable you love:]Petai, Kai-Lan, Pan Mee leaves

[W is for worst habit:]Procastinate

[X is for x-rays you've had]:Lost count... I did several from young (braces, root canal) and several later while in adulthood (crowns, sprained my wrist). the last one I did was like 3 weeks before I found out I was pregnant and I was really paranoid after that... Thank God Rye Li came out ok!

[Y is for yummy food you make]:I can't cook well but hubby can, I'm a recipe follower if there is such a word...but based on recipes I've followed, I would like to think I can cook! ;D ... I know I make better cocktails though! :D

[Z is for zodiac sign]:Cancer
Ok, I don't know of many bloggers personally and those that I know would probably have already been tagged before. So I'm leaving this out to whoever who reads this and want to do this on their blogs or through emails.
