Mummy says it is ok if your kid don't talk that soon!

Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker

This is what she has been telling people with kids and without kids. And she quoted me as an example! She tells people that I spoke too soon. I don't see what's her problem but she likes telling people of incidents of me answering her back...
The other day, we were having lunch and Mummy was having mee-hoon and Papa was having fried rice. She fed me with her mee-hoon first and along the way, I wanted fried rice so she took some from Papa's plate and I went:-
"No, papa feed, papa feed!"

And Mummy started scolding me and I didn't like it and I pointed at her and told her "eat your mee". She was dumbfounded after that but she went "You getting very smart these days huh?!" and I smiled back.
When Mummy needs to pee and I don't want her to especially when we are in the middle of doing something, I will tell her "Mummy wee-wee adi (already)!"
When I don't agree with Mummy on certain things, I like saying "No-lah, like this, like this!"
When I am not happy with Mummy, I will say " I don't friend you"

I always interrupt Mummy or Papa when they are talking on the phone. I will go "What (who) is that?, I want (to) talk, I want (to say) hello"

I'm also pretty anal about doing things my way. And how 'anal' I am? Well, it has been a habit whereby when it is time for my Vitamin C, Mummy will let me open the cover and she will put in my Vitamin on the cover for me to put it in my mouth. The other day, she was rushing and just opened it herself and gave me the Vitamin C. I protested but she ignored me, carrying me outside to greet our guest. After that, when we got back home, with the Vitamin still in my hands, I went to get the bottle and opened it with the help of Papa and put the vitamin on the cover itself and fed myself with it.

The same goes for when I want to put things back myself. When I'm in the mood, I don't like Mummy to help me so when she does it, I will undo whatever she has done and redo it myself!

So if you're worried about your child not talking that soon, it is alright, eventually they will and Mummy thinks you should enjoy it while it last!

Mummy's entry - She remembers

Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker

When it's bed time and I'm trying to get the girl to go to sleep, I will pretend that I'm sleeping. Lately, this girl has been pointing to my face and go "nose, mouth, eyes, eyebrow, forehead, ears, cheek, chin, etc" while pointing to the respective parts.

I didn't think too much about this until I realised that when she was much younger and not talking then, I used to do this too to her while getting her to sleep at nights. I will go "this is your hair, this is your head, this is your forehead, this is your eyebrow and so on". It's been a while since I've done this and when I realised this, I was praising her that she actually remembers me doing this to her and did it again at her while she was smiling.

I also realized now that I do not talk to her as much as I used to when she was a baby because this girl can talk so much now and love asking me questions. At least I'm still singing to her but it is irritating when the girl interrupts and say "no, no, like this"...and she goes on singing herself or she ask me to sing a song she likes instead. I'm just thinking how fast these new phases come up and I sure do miss my baby. The only time I get to go back to those days is when she's sleeping! LOL.

And since we're on the topic of her remembering stuff, she just told her papa "I got so many toys, Mummy didn't buy me toy" (indicating that I didn't buy her a toy from my Bangkok trip!). What do I do with this girl?!

Mummy's update - My girl bullies me!

Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker

We're back from Bangkok late Sunday night and I went to pick the girl up on Monday afternoon from my sister's. I found out :-

  • the girl didn't ask for us at all
  • she slept throughout the 3 nights she was there
  • she was happy being with her cousins although she bullied the boy to tears as well (she informed me that "I beat JT kor kor")
  • my sister and her maid reported that she was so well behaved (unlike how I complained to them on how naughty she is at home, made me look like the guilty one! sigh!)

When I picked her up, she was happy to see me and happier to see the new Minnie Mouse bag we got her (I only brought along one of the bags we bought her, the mickey mouse watch and a minnie mouse t-shirt which I also got the same one for my niece, the rest of her new clothes and stuff were left at home). So when she saw me taking out the stuff I bought for my sister's family and my parents, the girl got upset and I had to remind her that she got a whole lot more at home. When she saw the princesses dress I got for my niece, she showed her face and went "I also want like RW cher-cher's dress!".

She became more like a baby in my presence and both the maid and my mom noticed this and said she wasn't like this at all in the last 4 days she was there. When I didn't give in to her, she started crying.

Later at home, we showed her the rest of the things that we bought her. She was really happy but she remembered one thing which she kept reminding me to buy for her before the trip and she brought it up after she saw all her clothes "Where's my toy?". I had to apologize to her and told her that I couldn't find any nice toys so I bought her alot of nice clothes instead and 2 Minnie Mouse bags. She accepted this explanation.

That night, she woke up at 4am asking me for milk. When she did this, I was cursing inside as I know she's bullying me. She has been sleeping throughout the night for more than a month now unless if she is in a foreign place. She did not do this to her papa when he looked after her nor did she do this when she was at my sister's! And if you're wondering why I had to give in to her, the thing is if I ignore her, she will get louder and louder and will disrupt the rest of our sleep. What am I going to do with this girl?! At least she slept through last night and I hope this will stay forever!
